Pain \Pain\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Pained (p[=a]nd); p. pr. & vb. n. Paining.] [OE. peinen, OF. pener, F. peiner to fatigue. See Pain, n.]

  1. To inflict suffering upon as a penalty; to punish. [Obs.]
