Tangla

Tangla (IPA: ˈtæŋglə or ˈtæŋlə) is a town and a town area committee in earlier Darrang district and present Udalguri district (BTAD) in the Indian state of Assam.
It was a prominent business place ( Jute, Bua (Beetlenuts), Rice etc. and a host of small scale industries) and centre of culture in Darrang district but due to violent agitation by Bodos and Bodo insurgency since past 20 years, its glory had suffered badly.

A really admirable aspect of Tangla is that it has a really diverse population including Tea-tribes, Bodos, Rabhas, Bengali, Marowari, Muslim, Christian etc. which leads to its tolerant and rich culture. The population of this place is very culture and tradition sensitive. The population of the town organizes cultural rallies, meetings, exhibitions and other extravaganzas quite frequently. Every year Rongali Bihu, Bwisagu, Eid, Durga Puja, etc. are held with pomp and gaiety.

Tangla is situated 86 km from the capital city Guwahati and 87 km from Tezpur, the largest town on the north bank of the Brahmaputra valley.
