Tachyglossa \Tach`y*glos"sa\, n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. tachy`s quick + ? tongue.] (Zo["o]l.) A division of monotremes which comprises the spiny ant-eaters of Australia and New Guinea. See Illust. under Echidna.
