Supermodel

A supermodel (also spelled super-model and super model) is a highly paid fashion model who usually has a worldwide reputation and often a background in haute couture and commercial modeling. The term supermodel became prominent in the popular culture of the 1980s.

Supermodels usually work for top fashion designers and famous clothing brands. They have multimillion-dollar contracts, endorsements, and campaigns. Supermodels have branded themselves as household names and worldwide recognition is associated with their modeling careers. They have been on the covers of prestigious magazines such as French, British, American, and Italian Vogue. Claudia Schiffer stated, "In order to become a supermodel one must be on all the covers all over the world at the same time so that people can recognise the girls."

Supermodel (You Better Work)

"Supermodel (You Better Work)" is a 1992 song by the dance music singer and drag queen RuPaul. It was the third single (but first major label single) from his album Supermodel of the World.

The song was a dance club anthem that, though particularly popular with gay audiences, found mainstream success due in part to RuPaul's accessible "nice drag queen" image. The song consists of RuPaul giving advice to a young black supermodel, and briefly several other models, largely consisting of "sashay, shantay!", "work, turn to the left", "work, now turn to the right", and "you better work". The music video for the song, featuring RuPaul in various outfits prancing around town, became a staple on MTV. Singer Kurt Cobain of Nirvana cited the song as one of his favorites of 1993, and the two were photographed together at the MTV Video Music Awards that year.

"Supermodel" was a modest hit on the pop charts in both the US (#45) and the UK (#39). It also reached #2 on the US dance chart. This song is RuPaul's highest charting pop hit in the US to date.

The song features spoken word snippets by actress LaWanda Page, who went on to appear in several music videos by RuPaul.

The single is most commonly found on compact disc coupled with " House of Love", which would go on to become a single itself in some markets. Various 12" vinyl releases were also pressed, including a limited edition picture disc in the United Kingdom.

The judging panel comprised Schildknecht, show and event producer and choreographer Yannick Aellen and celebrity hairstylist Mike Karg. From 1000 applicants, 100 candidates were invited to participate in the auditions, with 15 being selected as part of the final cast. Supermodel (album)

Supermodel is the second studio album by American indie pop band Foster the People. The album was co-produced by their frontman Mark Foster and British musician Paul Epworth, and was released by Columbia Records on March 14, 2014 in Friday-release countries and March 18, 2014 in the United States. It is the follow-up to the band's 2011 debut album, Torches.

A concept album, Supermodel features common and heavy themes of negativity towards modern popular culture and consumer ideology throughout the record and its related artworks. Conceived mostly by Foster, the album deals primarily with social issues and "the ugly side of capitalism", and is described by Foster as "a conversation with God. Trying to explore who God is." Recorded and produced throughout 2012 and 2013, the album also features a minor departure from the sound of Torches, importing instruments and various sounds of different cultures of the world while retaining the "perfect pop record" sound.

The album was heavily promoted by the band and Columbia Records in the lead-up to its release, with an accompanying documentary series of the same name and a 130-foot mural painted in Los Angeles, the largest on the West Coast of the United States. The album was preceded by three singles released by Columbia in 2014: " Coming of Age" released in January 2014, " Pseudologia Fantastica" in February, and " Best Friend" in March. Upon release, Supermodel received mixed reviews from critics.
