Splendour (apple)

'Splendour' or 'Splendor' or 'Starksplendor' is a modern cultivar of domesticated apple which was developed in New Zealand, and is regarded there as a popular commercial dessert apple. It is said to have resulted from a cross between ' Red Dougherty' and ' Golden Delicious'.

Fruit is ribbed and conical shaped, medium-large. Thin skin has a light green background with faint pink blush green lenticels. Flesh is crispy and juicy and bites well with pleasure. White with green ting. Flavour is very pleasant for eating, sweet with no acidity and balanced with hints of vanilla and vinous. Keeps well in storage but bruise easily. Fruit is late ripening and hangs well on the tree. Is a reliable heavy tip and spur bearer.

Is an ancestor for the Pacific Rose apple and for the Aurora Golden Gala.
