Siliguri is a city spread across Darjeeling district and Jalpaiguri district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The city is located on the banks of the Mahananda River and the foothills of the Himalayas. The city lies 42 kilometres away from its twin city, Jalpaiguri which both merges up to be the largest metropolis of the regionSiliguri Metropolitan area or Greater Siliguri covers Siliguri Municipal Corporation area(33 wards in Darjeeling District and 14 wards in Japaiguri district), 22 gram panchayats under 4 blocks (Matigara, Naxalbari, Khoribari and Phansidewa) of the Siliguri Sub Division of Darjeeling district and 4 gram panchayats under 1 block(Rajganj) of the Jalpaguri Sadar Sub Division of Jalpaiguri District.
