Silicic acid

Silicic acid is a chemical compound. Silicic acid is the general name for a family of chemical compounds containing the element silicon attached to oxide and hydroxyl groups. This family of compounds have the general formula [SiO(OH)]. Some simple silicic acids have been identified, but only in very dilute aqueous solution, such as metasilicic acid (HSiO), orthosilicic acid (HSiO, pK=9.84, pK=13.2 at 25 °C), disilicic acid (HSiO), and pyrosilicic acid (HSiO); however in the solid state these probably condense to form polymeric silicic acids of complex structure.

Chemical analysis of this plant shows the presence of an average of 17 per cent iron, 36 per cent silicic acid and 1·65 per cent phosphoric acid.

Clays are made from chemical building blocks such as silicic acid and metal ions, which are in solution in rivers and streams having been dissolved - 'weathered' —.
