Self Control (album)

Self Control is the third album by American singer Laura Branigan, released in 1984. Two songs from the album were US Top-20 hits, the title song (#4) and " The Lucky One" (#20). The album became Branigan's biggest commercial success, earning her a Platinum certification in the United States for over 1 million confirmed sales, and selling several million copies worldwide. Branigan also enjoyed huge success in some countries with the single " Ti amo" (her second Umberto Tozzi cover, after " Gloria"), which reached #5 in the Canadian singles chart, but most notably reaching #2 in Australia. The album was a huge success internationally, gaining several sales certifications.

A remastered and expanded edition of the album was released on April 25, 2013 by Gold Legion. Included are remixes of "The Lucky One" and " Satisfaction", as well as the extended version of "Self Control".

Self Control (film)

Self Control is an animated short film in the Donald Duck series, produced in Technicolor by Walt Disney Productions and released to theaters on February 11, 1938 by RKO Radio Pictures. The film follows Donald trying to learn to control his temper by following the advice of a radio program.

It was directed by Jack King and features the voice of Clarence Nash as Donald Duck and Florence Gill as the clucking voice of a chicken. The voice of Uncle Smiley was uncredited.

Self Control (Raf song)

"Self Control" is a song by Italian singer Raf, released in 1984. It was written by Giancarlo Bigazzi, Steve Piccolo and Raf. The song was covered the same year by American singer Laura Branigan. Her version first hit no. 1 in Germany on June 15, 1984. Raf's version first hit no. 1 in Italy on June 23, 1984. Both versions of the song were popular across Europe during much of the summer of 1984 and were the most successful single of the year in Switzerland. Branigan's version peaked at no. 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and also went to no. 2 on the dance chart.

The song has become one of the defining songs of the 1980s, with a number of remakes recorded each year. Notable covers include Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin in 1993, a hit dance remake by Branigan in 2004 and two 2006 versions that hit the Top 5 in various European enclaves, by Danish dance group Infernal and Spanish singer Soraya Arnelas.
