Satakunta (historical province)

Satakunta ( or Satagundia) is a historical province of Finland. It borders the historical provinces of Finland Proper, Tavastia and Ostrobothnia, also the Gulf of Bothnia.

Historical Satakunta is situated on the areas of modern provinces of Satakunta and the most of Pirkanmaa, also little areas of Central Finland and Southern Ostrobothnia.

Satakunta

Satakunta (, ) is a region (maakunta / landskap) of Finland, part of the former Western Finland Province. It borders the regions of Southwest Finland, Pirkanmaa, Southern Ostrobothnia and Ostrobothnia. The capital city of the region is Pori. The name of the region literally means Hundred. The historical province of the same name was a larger area within Finland, covering modern Satakunta as well as much of Pirkanmaa.

Satakunta (electoral district)

Satakunta (formerly Turku Province North) is an electoral district represented in the Finnish Eduskunta (parliament). It covers the administrative region of Satakunta, with a population of 235,416 . Satakunta currently elects nine members of the Eduskunta.

The constituency is largely rural, and the largest cities are Pori and Rauma. The largest parties in the parliamentary elections are the Social Democratic Party of Finland and the Centre Party.
