Safire (illusionists)

Safire are an award winning illusion act based in the UK, hailing from Wales. The act comprises husband and wife team Stuart and Jayne Loughland. Recently they won the title of The Most Entertaining Magical Act in the UK and were honoured to become Members of The Inner Magic Circle. Last year they were presented with a Presidential Citation by the International Brotherhood of Magicians for their services in the promotion of magic ion entertainment.

Not only have Safire established themselves in the UK but have been fortunate enough to break through to success in the U.S.A some highlights of their career being to receive an invitation from world famous illusionists Siegfried and Roy to appear in their World Magic Show at the renowned Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas and also performing at the 20th Century Fox Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. When in Germany they were honoured to perform before Prince Luitipold of Bavaria and most recently in a Royal Variety Performance in the presence of HRH The Duke of Kent at The Prince of Wales Theatre in London’s West End appearing alongside Bradley Walsh, Claire Sweeney, Paul Zerdin, John Maloney, The Christians, Joe Tracini and leading cast members from London’s top musicals Hairspray, Wicked, Grease and Chicago.

Performing at the largest theatres throughout the UK has given them the experience of performing with some of the top names in show business including Peter Kay, Ken Dodd, Jimmy Tarbuck, Richard Branson, Ricky Tomlinson, Billy Pearce, Cannon and Ball, Kim Wilde, Suranne Jones, Keith Harris, Freddie Starr, Danny La Rue, Wayne Dobson, Rory Bremner, Barbara Dickson, Frank Carson, Jimmy Cricket, Jodie Prenger, John Parr (St Elmo’s Fire), Bobby Davro, The Grumbleweeds and have just finished their 12th UK theatre tour "Phantom of the Theatre " with BBC’s Chuckle Brothers.

They have appeared with BBC's The Chuckle Brothers for twelve years (up to and including 2013) and also perform a giant puppet UV act "The Magic Light Puppet Company" as well as playing parts and presenting their illusions.

Stuart was a member of Colwyn Bay rock band Nitelyne during the 1980s, contributing vocals and keyboards who featured on Ebony Records "Heavy Metal Collection" Vol 3 with their own original song "Winners or Losers" for which Stuart wrote the lyrics. Two old clips of the band can be seen on YouTube.

2008 saw Safire performing at Bridlington Spa Theatre, Blackpool Tower and Skegness Embassy Theatre in 'Billy Pearce's Big Night Out' along with Billy Pearce, Linda Newport and Neil Hurst.

TV appearances have included Children’s ITV, Sooty, Talk of the Town and The Pyjama Party with Claudia Winkleman. They also have appeared on Granada TV’s Christmas Special with Noddy Holder and the cast of Coronation Street and three Chuckle Brothers DVD’s. Performing Close Up table magic and large scale illusions Safire’s corporate clients include Virgin, Barclaycard, Channel 4, Sky TV, Nat West, BUPA, Hilton, Jaguar and Mercedes where not only did they perform their act but actually appeared the car in the Showroom ! Stuart and Jayne also work as Illusion Consultants for Stage and TV.

The couple also run "Magic Light Productions" who have successfully produced three sell out Pantomimes, Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin and Dick Whittington. Their Pantomimes not only feature song, dance and comedy but also puppets, illusions and special effects. They also construct and design all of the costumes and scenery as well as writing the script. Their fourth Pantomime this year is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves which features a lot of Magic, Illusions and surprises.
