Point Break is a 1991 American action crime thriller film directed by Kathryn Bigelow, starring Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Lori Petty and Gary Busey. The title refers to the surfing term " point break," where a wave breaks as it hits a point of land jutting out from the coastline. Reeves stars as rookie FBI agent Johnny Utah, who is investigating a string of bank robberies possibly being committed by surfers. Johnny goes undercover to infiltrate the surfing community and develops a complex friendship with Bodhi (Swayze), the charismatic leader of a gang of surfers.

The film was a box office success upon its release, with an $83.5 million gross and a budget of $24 million, and has since gained cult status.

A remake of the same name starring Luke Bracey, Ray Winstone, and Édgar Ramírez was released on December 25, 2015.

Point Break (band)

Point Break were a British pop group who found brief success between 1999 and 2000. Launched as a new boy band in 1999, the group featured Brett Adams, Declan Bennett and David "Ollie" Oliver who had acted in TV's Byker Grove. Within a year, they clocked up five UK hit singles and an album.

Their song "Stand Tough" was used in Australia as the Seven Network's theme for coverage of the AFL in 2000 and 2001.

Kosove, Christopher Taylor and David Valdes. An American-German-Chinese co-production, the film is a remake of the 1991 film of the same name by Rick King and W. Peter Iliff, which starred Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. The film stars Édgar Ramírez, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Delroy Lindo and Ray Winstone, and was released in China on December 4, 2015 by DMG Entertainment and in the United States on December 25, 2015 by Warner Bros. Pictures in 3D and RealD 3D. The film received negative reviews from critics and was a box office flop, only making $28 million domestically from a $105 million budget.
