Phansu

Phansu is a village in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, in the Dapoli taluka. It is a rural town located in the Konkan division. The 2011 Census of India recorded a total of 1,069 residents in the village. Phansu's geographical area is approximately .

Phansu is named after the jackfruit tree, called "phanas". It is the ancestral land of the Pethes.

Pethes are a Brahmin family. Modern day descendants include celebrated author, Meghana Pethe, and well-respected economics professor in Bombay University, Abhay Pethe.

There are still Pethes in Phansu, though Vyankatesh Hari Pethe, a son of Phansu, left in the early 20th century for education. He moved to Mumbai, in Dadar, where the bulk of Pethe descendants now live.

Phansu has a school, several stores, and a Hanuman temple.
