Pfyffer (frequently also Pfyffer von Altishofen) is a family name. Several generations of representatives of this family (11 in total between 1652 and 1982) were captains of the Pontifical Swiss Guard, among them Johann Rudolf Pfyffer von Altishofen (died in 1657).
