What is "onekwaya"

Onekwaya West is a settlement in the Ohangwena Region of northern Namibia, situated north of Oshakati and from Oshikango. It belongs to the Endola electoral constituency. It is one of the biggest villages in the Endola constituency, and it is divided into two sections, section A and section B. Neighboring settlements are Ohalushu 3km south, Oshali 6km north east, Onamutai 9km south, Efululula 5km north, Onanghulo 5km north and Omhedi 4km south. In Omheli is the homestead of the King of Oukwanyama traditional authority.

This is the unique village and it was mostly famous during colonial rule in Namibia because is where some of Namibia's political leaders attended primary school, for instance Tuliamen Kalomoh in 1962-1966 at St Mary High School, under the help of Anglican Lutheran Church.

This is the well developed village with lots of infrastructure such as a clinic, electricity, a church and a school. This is where most of small village that close to Onekwaya like Ongonga, Olyamunyndi and Okafitu come for services help like health services, church services and also charging their phones because those small villages they don't have electricity. The most spoken language in the village is Oshiwambo and predominantly they grow crops as well as tend to cattle.
