New Era may refer to:
New Era is an official magazine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). First published in January 1971 along with the Ensign and the Friend, the New Era's intended audience has always been the church's youth. The magazine replaced the similarly themed The Improvement Era, a periodical published from 1897 to 1970.
In its first issue, the editor of the New Era explained the rationale for its creation, stating:
''By direction of the First Presidency, the New Era is the publication arm of the Church to the unmarried persons of the kingdom—those from twelve up to marriage. It will reflect those qualities that have given rise to the Lord’s confidence in youth: sincerity, authenticity, intellectual stimulation, and inspiration.''The New Era is a daily national newspaper owned by the government of Namibia. The newspaper is one of four daily national newspapers in the country. It is published in English and five indigenous languages. New Era was established in 1991 as a weekly newspaper and was later published only bi-weekly. It appears daily since 2004.
Due to its ownership it is perceived to be SWAPO-friendly. Its competitors are the independent papers The Namibian (English and indigenous languages), Die Republikein ( Afrikaans and English) and Allgemeine Zeitung ( German).
New Era is the debut album of Finnish power metal pioneer Timo Tolkki's band, Revolution Renaissance. After Tolkki's split from Stratovarius in 2008 he used what fan's knew the album to be titled R... R.... as the namesake for his new project. Using material he had written for Stratovarius's upcoming album, Tolkki's New Era features the talents of German power metal vocalist Tobias Sammet and German singer Michael Kiske among others.
