Kodal

Kodal is a village and parish in Andebu municipality that stretches into Sandefjord municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. Its border between Sandefjord- and Andebu municipalities is made up by Goksjø, a lake popular for fishing. Kodal is mostly a rural area, with a population of 971 as of 2014. It is located ten kilometers north of Sandefjord city center and eleven miles south of the town center in Andebu. Kodal has one gas station, an elementary school (Kodal skole), a kindergarten, grocery store, sports center, church, and two traffic schools. Kodal Church is located in Prestbøen, and its chancel dates from the 12th century. The nave from 1691 is made of round timbers. The altarpiece dates from 1781 and the painting "Jesus and the disciples on the walk to Emmaus" by Otto Valstad in the style of Dorph from 1899. Several burial mounds dating back to the Viking Age have been found in the area.
