What is "khattar"

Khattar is a Jat tribe which is largely Muslim, with some Hindus. They are settled mostly in Pakistani Punjab , with some in Indian Punjab and Hariyana also During the British Indian period, the community was among those determined by the British Raj military authorities to be a martial race, a theory of scientific racism that is now discredited.
