Kamakura

is a city in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, about south-south-west of Tokyo. Although Kamakura proper is today rather small, it is often described in history books as a former de facto capital of Japan as the seat of the Shogunate and of the Regency during the Kamakura Period. Kamakura was designated as a city on November 3, 1939.

As of June 1, 2012, the modern city has an estimated population of 174,412 and a population density of 4,400 persons per km². The total area is .

As a coastal city with a high number of seasonal festivals, as well as ancient Buddhist and Shinto shrines and temples, Kamakura is a popular tourist destination within Japan.

Kamakura is a fictional character from G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, a line of military-themed toys created by Hasbro. He is the first character created by Devil's Due Publishing to be made into a G.I. Joe figure and later brought into the new animated series.

Kamakura (EP)

Kamakura is the third EP released by the New York based band Gang Gang Dance. It was recorded in August 2007 for Southern Records Latitudes series. It was released in August 2010 as a limited edition, pressing of 1000 hand-numbered, rubber stamped CDs and 1000 vinyl only (700 black, 300 white).
