What is "foot sweep"

n. (context martial arts English) Any of several moves used to trip an opponent by forcefully moving one's legs horizontally at the feet or ankles of one's opponent.

Foot sweeps are commonly used in Tang Soo Do, karate, and jujutsu. In addition, many closer sweeps like the Trap Sweep and Two-Leg Sweep can resemble Judo throws.
