What is "elektra"

Elektra Natchios is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Frank Miller, the character first appeared in Daredevil #168 (January 1981). She is a love interest of the superhero Daredevil, but her violent nature and mercenary lifestyle divide the two.

The character is a highly trained assassin of Greek descent who wields a pair of bladed sai as her trademark weapons. Elektra is one of Frank Miller's best-known creations, but subsequent writers' use of her is controversial as Marvel had originally promised to refrain from reviving the character without Miller's permission. She has also appeared as a supporting character of X-Men's Wolverine and in other series and mini-series, as well as adaptations for the screen.

Elektra was ranked 22nd in Comics Buyer's Guide's '100 Sexiest Women in Comics' list. Miller initially based the character's appearance on Lisa Lyon, a female bodybuilder.

In the 2003 film Daredevil and its 2005 spin-off, Elektra, the character is portrayed by Jennifer Garner. Élodie Yung portrays the character in the second season of Marvel's Daredevil.

Elektra, Op. 58, is a one-act opera by Richard Strauss, to a German-language libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, which he adapted from his 1903 drama Elektra. The opera was the first of many collaborations between Strauss and Hofmannsthal. It was first performed at the Dresden State Opera on 25 January 1909. It was dedicated to his friends Natalie and Willy Levin.

While based on ancient Greek mythology, the opera is highly modernist and expressionist. Hofmannsthal and Strauss's adaptation of the story focuses tightly on Elektra, thoroughly developing her character by single-mindedly expressing her emotions and psychology as she meets with other characters, mostly one at a time. The other characters are Klytaemnestra, her mother and one of the murderers of her father Agamemnon; her sister, Chrysothemis; her brother, Orestes; and Klytaemnestra's lover, Aegisthus.

Various aspects from the myth are minimized as background to Elektra's character and her obsession. Other facets of the ancient story are completely excluded, in particular the earlier sacrifice by Agamemnon of his and Klytaemnestra's daughter Iphigenia, which was the motivation for Klytaemnestra's subsequent murder of Agamemnon. These changes tightened the focus on Elektra's furious lust for revenge. The result is a very modern, expressionistic retelling of the ancient Greek myth. Compared to Sophocles's Electra, the opera presents raw, brutal, violent, and bloodthirsty horror. Ståle Wikshåland has analysed the use of time and temporality in the dramaturgy of Elektra.

Elektra is one of the most frequently performed operas based on classical Greek mythology. Elektra received its UK premiere at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in 1910 with Edyth Walker in the title role and Thomas Beecham conducting. The first United States performance of the opera in the original German was given by the Philadelphia Grand Opera Company at the Academy of Music on 29 October 1931, with Anne Roselle in the title role, Charlotte Boerner as Chrysothemis, Margarete Matzenauer as Klytaemnestra, Nelson Eddy as Orest, and Fritz Reiner conducting.

Elektra is the fourth studio album from Danish hip hop group Suspekt, released 12 September 2011. It is produced by Rune Rask and Jonas Vestergaard. The symphony orchestra Czech Film Orchestra is featured on Brænder Byen Ned (Burning Down The City), Helt Alene (All Alone), Nyt Pas (New Passport, which features a 3 minutes classical music ending), and Parasitter (Parasites). The orchestral music was recorded in the Rudolfinum Concert Hall, Prague, and was composed and orchestrated by Frederik Magle who also plays pipe organ on Parasitter. Danish singer Tina Dickow is featured on Helt Alene. The album was presented in public for the first time at the release concert in Koncerthuset (Copenhagen), 10 September 2011. The concert was reviewed by the music magazine Gaffa, who gave it 6 stars

Elektra was favorably reviewed by Danish press including reviews in all major newspapers upon its release. The album was certified gold in November 2011.

Kendrick Lamar and executive producer Dr. Dre used "Helt Alene" as the main sample for the track "The Art of Peer Pressure" on Kendrick's album good kid, m.A.A.d city.
