What is "elath"

Elath (; ), or Eloth, was an ancient city mentioned in several places in the Hebrew Bible on the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba. It was in the same vicinity as Ezion-Geber. Historically, the city of Aqaba, Jordan has been associated with the ancient site.

The modern city of Eilat, Israel is adjacent to Aqaba, the ancient Elath, and named after it.
