Drona

In the epic Mahabharata, Drona (, ) or Dronacharya or Guru Drona was the royal preceptor to the Kauravas and Pandavas and incarnation of Brahma. He was the son of sage Bharadwaja and a descendant of the sage Angirasa. He was a master of advanced military arts, including the divine weapons or Astras. Ashwatthama was the son of Drona. Drona is the avatar of Brihaspati and Arjuna was his favourite student.

Drona (elephant)

Drona (c. 1936 – 1998) was one the lead Dasara Elephants of the Jamboo Savari of Mysore Dasara. He carried the Golden Howdah for a record 18 years consecutive years between 1981 and 1997, before being electrocuted while grazing in 1998. Of all the carrier elephants since the 20th-century, he is considered the best "because he possessed an excellent ability to learn and correct himself".

Drona (2008 film)

Drona is a 2008 Bollywood fantasy adventure superhero film directed by Goldie Behl, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Kay Kay Menon and Jaya Bachchan. Drona's special effects shots were worked on by EyeQube headed by Charles Darby and David Bush. The movie features Indian martial arts such as Kalaripayattu, Chhau, Gatka, and sword fighting. It was filmed in Prague, Bikaner, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Namibia. The trailer was attached to Vipul Shah's Singh is Kinng (2008) and Raghav Khattar's Marathi film Vishavnath (2008).

Drona is a Telugu film, starring Nitin, Priyamani, Kelly Dorjee, Mukesh_Rishi, Sita, Sunil, Raghubabu, directed by Karunakumar. Produced by DS Rao, and music composed by Anoop Rubens. The film released in 2009. In spite of publicity stunts like Priyamani's bikini act, the film turned out to be an average flick at the box-office.

Drona (Simulator)

Drona is a small-arms range training simulator for imparting realistic and cost-effective simulator based weapons training. It was developed by Simulator Development Division based at Secunderabad city in India.

Simulator Development Division (SDD) was established as a nodal agency for development of simulators for Indian Army in the year 1991.

Drona is an electronic and software-based equipment which reduces expenditure on ammunition, logistics and time spent on regular troop training by 40 to 50 per cent.

Equipment comprises either a single-lane or multi-lane (usually eight) firing stations connected to an instructor server. Weapons such as 7.62 mm SLR, 7.62 mm LMG, 5.56 mm INSAS and 5.56 mm LMG can be used in the firing station. At the firing station, user is shown computer generated images, to simulate different kinds of terrain and conditions. Other options include day and night firing, right and left-handed use and bi-lingual instructions in English and Hindi. An instructor will sit in a sound-proof AC cabin to observe and guide the trainee.
