Dheedwal is a town 17 kilometers from Chakwal in Punjab, Pakistan. It has a hospital, a college, a bank, a utility store and some other services like telephone, cable and also water and gas supply.
The mosque of Jamia Masjid Chishtia Ghausia Dheedwal, is situated in the center of the village. The community of this mosque belongs to the Muslim sect " Sunni Brailvi".
The 'Tanzim Al-Mustafa Sallah o Alaih e Waalih e Wasalm' is an organization of the young men of Dheedwal. The Tanzim organizes the annual Mehfil-e-Naat at the Jamia Masjid Chistia Ghausia Dheedwal. All well known Qura, Naat Khawan and Islamic scholars from different parts of Pakistan come to this Mehfil-e-Pak, which includes thousands of participants. It is the best and the biggest event annually held in Dheedwal. The Village Dheedwal has all the facilities same like a modern city for example, College, Hospital, Land Line Telephone, Water Supply System, Street Lights and Sewerage System etc.
As you turn from main road towards the village, you can see a monument (Oblesik). This monument(Oblesik) reflects the participation of these villagers through their army men that fought the 2nd world war.
A Pakistan Navy officer belongs to proud Janjuaclan. Lt.Cdr IMAM MUHAMMAD RAJA got commission in 1985, their sons continue the father tradition and their elder son Cdr. Waqar Ahmed got commission in Pakistan Navy in 1995 and currently serving the country, their 2nd son Muhammad Bakhtiar Ahmed Janjua joined Pakistan Rangers as Sub inspector and now worked in Media Industry in Pakistan in management of renowned channel, their third son Muhammad Waqas Ahmed is Also commissioned officer in Pakistan Army. the family is distinguished because of 4 officers, as 3 commissioned officer and one para military officer from a single family in the village. From same family Janjua high profile Army officer Maj Gen Saleem Janjua was Dy QMG in GHQ is a prominent figure and his son Is also a commissioned officer in pak army, their nephew Maj Mohsin is Also commissioned officer in Pakistan army.
The village has also been a home to several scientists, who are (have been) working in world leading institutes. For example, late Dr. Nasir Mehmood Butt (MSc - QAU, Islamabad, PhD Agriculture - Pakistan) was a scientist in the field of agriculture during last quarter of 20th century. Currently, an eminent computer scientist from the village, Dr. Muhammad Taimoor Khan (MSc - UK, PhD Computer Science - Austria) is working at world leading engineering and technology university CSAIL, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He has won several very prestigious international awards for his research work in the fundamental area of computer science. Dr. Syed Zahoor Hussain Shah is believed to be a first PhD - UK of the village. He graduated back in the first quarter of 20th century.
Dheedwal has the highest number of graduates and highly educated professionals in District Chakwal. Also a number of immigrants from this village setteld in Canada and United States. Historically this village was an earliest settlement of people along with Ban Ameer Khatoon because of its latitude and still in some parts of area when construction begins and the people witnessed the unearthen pieces of utensils showing ancient civilization in this area.
