What is "deoband"

Deoband (, , Devband) is a city and a municipal board in Saharanpur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Deoband is about 150 km from Delhi. Deoband is Famous for Darul Uloom of Deoband and Shri Bala Sundri Devi Mata Temple. Darul Uloom is one of the most important and influential schools of Islamic Studies. Deoband has presence of the Jamia Tibbiya Deoband college of Unani Medicine, imparting the qualifications of B.U.M.S. and M.D.

Deoband ( Hindi: देओबन्द) is one of the 403 constituencies of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, India. It is a part of the Saharanpur district and one of five assembly constituencies in the Saharanpur (Lok Sabha constituency). Since 2008, this assembly constituency is numbered 5 amongst 403 constituencies. Prior to 2008, when the "Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 2008" came into effect, this constituency was number 400.
