Cumberland

Cumberland ( ; locally ) is a historic county of North West England that had an administrative function from the 12th century until 1974. It was bordered by Northumberland to the east, County Durham to the southeast, Westmorland and Lancashire to the south, and Dumfriesshire in Scotland to the north. It formed an administrative county from 1889 to 1974 (excluding Carlisle from 1914) and now forms part of Cumbria. (In rhotic varieties of English, the pronunciation is kəmbərlənd, that is, with a plain "r" sound in the middle syllable.)

Cumberland (electoral district)

Cumberland was a federal electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that was represented in the Canadian House of Commons from 1867 to 1968. It was created in the British North America Act, 1867, and was abolished in 1966 when it was merged into Cumberland—Colchester North riding. The district consisted of the County of Cumberland.

Cumberland (Saskatchewan provincial electoral district)

Cumberland is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It was created for the 1912 election, and was abolished into Prince Albert East-Cumberland in 1967. It was re-created for the 1975 election. It is the largest electoral district in the province, and at the 2007 general election was the safest for the New Democratic Party.

Cumberland (rugby league team)

Cumberland, officially known as Central Cumberland, were a rugby league team in 1908 based in the region of Cumberland Plain in western Sydney. They were one of the nine original teams in the first New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) season, albeit admitted after the first round of matches had already been played. They are the shortest lived team in the history of first-grade rugby league in Australia after disbanding late that year. Statistically, they are the club with the poorest all-time record, only lasting eight games in their inaugural and only season.

Cumberland (N.W.T. electoral district)

Cumberland was an electoral district in the Northwest Territories from 1891–1894, the riding was in the rural area to the northeast of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Cumberland disappeared in 1894 when it merged with the newly created Prince Albert East.

A new incarnation of the cumberland district has existed in Saskatchewan from 1912 to present.

Cumberland is a former United Kingdom Parliamentary constituency. It was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of England then of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800 and of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1832. It was represented by two Knights of the Shire. It was divided between the constituencies of Cumberland East and Cumberland West in 1832.
