Arribes (wine)

Arribes is a Spanish Denominación de Origen (DO) for wines located in the southeast of the province of Zamora and the northeast of the province of Salamanca ( Castile and León, Spain), along the border with Portugal on the banks of the River Duero. There are 750 ha of vineyards registered with the Consejo Regulador (Governing Body).

In 2002 the area covered by the DO along with parts of Portugal on the opposite bank was declared a National Park, Parque Nacional de Arribes del Duero.

Arribes (also named arribas or arribanzos) are the banks of the rivers in the southeast of the province of Zamora and the northeast of the province of Salamanca, Castile and León, Spain.

There are Águeda Arribes, Douro Arribes, Esla Arribes, Huebra Arribes, Tormes Arribes and Uces Arribes.
