Annai

Annai is a small village in the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo Region of Guyana. Annai stands at an altitude of 95 metres (314 feet), at the edge of the Rupununi savannah, where the cattle trail to the Atlantic coast begins. It is nestled in the foothills of the Pakaraima Mountains, and is close to the Rupununi River. Annai, considered to be the gateway to the Rupununi, is approximately 15 miles north of Karanambo and is by road from the nation's capital, Georgetown.

Much of the population of the area are members of the Macushi people. Annai is one of the northern-most Macushi Amerindian villages in the North Rupununi Savannahs.

Annai is home to the Rock View Ecotourism Resort, an old ranch built in the 1950s. Rock View is a good base for trips to the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway.

Annai's airstrip ( NAI) allows light planes to land.

Annai (film)

Annai is a 1962 Indian Tamil drama film directed by Krishnan-Panju. The film features P. Bhanumathi, Sowcar Janaki in the lead roles, with S. V. Ranga Rao, J. P. Chandra Babu and P. Raja playing supporting roles. The plot revolves around the theme that the love of a foster mother can be even stronger than biological mother.

The film is a remake of the Bengali film Maya Mrigo (1960). The soundtrack album and background score were composed by R. Sudarshanam while the lyrics were written by Kannadasan and Kothamangalam Subbu.

Annai was released on 15 December 1962 to positive reviews from critics, with praise directed at the plot, the music and the performances from the lead actors. The film was also a commercial success, and had a theatrical run of 100 days. The film was dubbed in Telugu as Penchina Prema.

Annai (2000 film)

Annai is a 2000 Tamil drama film, directed by Manobala. The film stars Bhanupriya, Nassar and Baby Sadhika in the lead roles while Ramesh Khanna, Manobala and Mayilswamy among others form an ensemble cast. Music for the film was composed by Dhina and the film opened to mixed reviews in February 2000.
