Ambasamudram

Ambasamudram is the principal town of a taluk named the same, in Tirunelveli district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The entire taluk had a population of 392,226 as of 2001, with 42.5% classified as rural. The town of Ambasamudram had a population 35,645 as of 2011.

Kasibanathaswamy Temple which was dedicated to Lord Shiva and Krishna Swamy Temple which was dedicated to Lord Vishnu are the ancient temples of Ambasamudram.

Ambasamudram is a constituency in Tamil Nadu legislative assembly, that includes the city, Ambasamudram. It is part of the Tenkasi Lok Sabha constituency. In 2011 election, the constituency had 193,552 total electorate comprising 96,157 males and 97,395 females. It has a large number of Thevar, Scheducled Caste and Nadar voters. Other castes forming a sizeable number of voters are Illathu Pillaimars, Chettiars, Muslims and Mudaliars.
