Wikipedia Acanthopelma Acanthopelma is a genus of spiders in the family Theraphosidae (tarantulas). It is the only genus in the Acanthopelminae subfamily. The genus has two species, Acanthopelma beccarii in Guyana and Acanthopelma rufescens in Central America.
